I am from watermelon,
from Clorox wipes and candle burning.
I am from the one story house with blue shutters.
I am from the honeysuckle plants,
the cotton and hay fields.
I am from family dinners and blonde hair
from Mama, Grandma and Pabutch.
I am from the lady who yelled at other cars on the road and the lady who helps
others,
from reaching to the highest of your dreams and never giving up.
I am from a Baptist mother and believe there is a God.
I am from Turkey, NC,
pigs in a blanket and banana pudding.
From the grandmother who was a hair stylist
the grandfather who retired at 71 and the mother who was my best friend.
I am from smiling all the time, loud mouths and Christian lovers.
