1. Epilogue: a concluding section that rounds out the design of a literary work

2. Prologue: the preface or introduction to a literary work

3. Plot: the plan or main story (as of a movie or literary work)

4. Exposition: a setting forth of the meaning or purpose (as of a writing)

5. Rising Action: a series of related incidents builds toward the point of


greatest interest

6. Falling Action: the parts of a story after the climax and before the very end

7. Resolution: The part of the story in which the problems are solved and the
action comes to a satisfying end

8. Theme: The message about life or human nature that is the focus in the
story that the writer tells.

9. Thesis: a position or proposition that a person (as a candidate for scholastic


honors) advances and offers to maintain by argument

10. Summary:
a comprehensive and usually brief abstract, recapitulation, orcompendium of
previously stated facts or statements.
11. Purdah: seclusion of women from public observation among Muslims and
some Hindus especially in India
