    Atheists are often misunderstood by others who assume they are arrogant or disrespectful of religion simply because they do not believe in God. In reality, atheism is simply a lack of belief in deities and says nothing about a person's character or their respect for religious individuals. Atheists can be good people who are interested in living by reason and ethics rather than faith.
