UWRT Proposal

1. I know that for certain occupations, different levels of college education are a
requirement. For example, to become a doctor, one would need to get their
PhD in a specific medical field they desire to work in. However, I also know,
that not all successful careers require a college level education.
2. I chose this subject, because I find it relevant to my life. After I graduated
from high school I debated if going to college was truly worth it. Going in to
college, I had no idea what it is I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Even in
my second year, I am unsure. It interests me so much because I still debate if
college is for me.
3. A. The statistics of how many people in America attend college in their life
time?
B. How many people attend community college vs universities?
C. How many people get a bachelors, associates, or their doctorates?
D. Has there been an increase in the amount of people attending college in
recent years?
E. Why the stereotype You must go to college to succeed has become such
an important part of todays society.
F. How many people work in a profession that relates to their college major?
G. Do people go to college simply to satisfy the rest of society?
H. If college is so important, why is it so important that we go as soon as we
graduate from high school? Why not wait?
I. Is college truly a once in a life time experience?
J. Is the whole college experience as a whole just as important as the
education that is learned?
4. Question A interests me the most. I would like to know how many people
actually do go to college in America.
5. I think a good resource to find answers would be the internet. In my opinion,
the internet seems to be the best way to obtain information on almost all
topics. A great website that I found to be useful, is nce.ed.gov. It has a
surplus amount of statistics on college students.
6. Due to the amount of statistics on my subject, it would be a lot easier on
myself to focus on one aspect. I could use the amount of students expected
to attend college in the upcoming years to support my theory.
7. To broaden my subject, I could look into different kind of resources. I could
start to use books to gain information, or even talk to people that work in the
education system. I could than get their take on the subject.
