The Art of Longboarding

Maryhill Loops Road in Goldendale, Washington. Two times a year

longboard racers gather at this marvelous road to partake in one of the
best IDF races in the world. I have raced this hill for the past 5 years,
and last year I placed 17th out of 252 people.

This photo was also taken at Maryhill. This is all of the riders at the end
of the run, they are all dressed in full body leathers, gloves with pucks
on them to assist in slides, as well as full faced helmets. Longboarders
are more protected than regular longboarders.

This photo was also taken at Maryhill. This is a picture of a race

heat on longboards at Maryhill. That is me in the front leading a pack of
excellent racers down the hill with our bodies fully protected.

This photo was taken locally here in Salt Lake City up on Capital
Hill. This picture demonstrates the sliding maneuver that longboarders
use to make a sharp turn or slow down rapidly. The board is directly
horizontal to the direction that you are traveling, causing the boarder
to slow down quickly.
