1. Inaverticalwettedwalltower,thefluidflowsdowntheinsideasathinfilmhmthickin
laminarflowintheverticalzdirection.UsetheNavierStokesequationtodeterminethe
velocityprofilevzasafunctionofx,thedistancefromtheliquidsurfacefromthewall.The
fluidisatalargedistancefromtheentrance,anditisNewtonianandincompressible.
DeterminethevolumetricrateofthefluidflowifthewidthofthewalltowerisW.

2. Wewouldliketodeterminethevelocityprofileofafluidflowinginsidetheannulusbetween
twoconcentrichorizontalpipesinaheatexchanger.Lettheradiusoftheinnercylinderbe
R1,andtheoutercylinderR2.Atthisstage,weassumethatthechangeintemperatureisnot
sufficientlylargetoaffecttheflowpropertiesofthefluid,i.e.itsdensityandviscosityare
roughlyconstantthroughoutthesystem.Atthisstage,weknowthatthevelocityinthe
annulusreachesamaximumataradiusr=rmax.Determinermaxintermsofthedensityand
viscosityofthefluid,aswellastheparametersofR1andR2.
