Philosophy of Education

Today the education field is wide open due to the budget cuts our state has
pinned on us. This doesnt help the students when the teachers that are well educated
are being laid off due to the amount they are making and how long they have been
working. Every teacher has the goal of educating their students to the best of their
power. It is my goal as an education major to expand mine and my students horizons
and knowledge to help me and my students better understand what I am teaching and
what they need to succeed in the future.
First, the key to success in the classroom is knowing if the students are
benefiting from my lessons that I am teaching. One way to find out if the students are
actually learning is to give skill checks or assessments throughout the lesson. Not only
will this show me if my students are learning from my lesson plans but will also show me
what I can do as a teacher to better myself and my students. In my classroom I will use
these assessments to help educate my students in ways that will actually benefit them
in the class room. I believe that every student should be able to feel comfortable in their
learning environment and shouldnt feel ashamed or abandoned by their teacher or
peers during their education. I am going to create lesson plans and organize activities
that will help every student learn and bond with their peers in the process of learning. In
the process of building a lesson plan to help every student learn that walks into my

room, I will take into account the amount of information they can handle, their ability of
problem solving, and their ability to relate with other students. Knowing this will help me
produce a safe and friendly learning environment, along with lesson plans that will
benefit everyone in the classroom.
Learning environments are another essential key to bettering students education.
I will include a lecture portion, an activity to go along with the lecture, and then a
debriefing of the lesson. The activity will be held in the classroom, if materials that are
needed for the activity are not in my room, I will do the best to my ability to get all the
materials or request a room for the activity. I know from experience that students feel
more comfortable in their learning environment when they know the teacher on a level
that makes them comfortable and also knowing that their teacher will reach out to them
when they need it. My room will consist of a colorful rug, posters of my liking that I feel
would intrigue my students. I am going to keep the students informed and attentive with
a chill setting for a room. Every teacher keeps their room the way they want, I plan to
try to get students opinions on decorations to help make them feel comfortable. In high
school classes today teachers are allowing the use of cell phones for homework, tests,
and other learning opportunities, I would personally like to use this in my classroom
because I know first hand that it made me focus on many different contents of learning.
The use of laptops and Ipads are very popular in a classroom and I am going to involve
this into my curriculum in hopes that this will keep the students involved and excited to
learn. I feel that this will help them produce an understanding of the applied academics
portion to learning.

Although students dont like feedback on their work I am still going to write notes
on the sides of their homework and tests in hopes that they will ask questions and
understand what they did wrong so that next time they can learn and better understand
the information that is presented to them during class. I will also hold parent teacher
conferences so that I can show the parents my style of teaching and also how the
student is benefiting from it.
In conclusion, I will go out of my way to dedicate time to my students and to
make the learning environment better for the students and myself. I will also make sure
that the students are getting involved and are participating in in class discussions.
