0 STUDY AREA

The study was located at C2 building in University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia which
is also located behind the Mammals AutoCAD as shown in the Figure 1. We use the open
spaces near the channel to set up our equipment for the data collection later. On that day , the
surrounding is very suitable to do our projects because the weather is not too hot and also a
little bit windy. We will stop the projects if it rains because that weather can effects error of
data collection and also to prevent the equipment from damaged. This work is carried out to
measure channel characteristics such as channel cross section, velocity, and also depth of
channel. Besides, the width and distance between cross section also have been determined.
All of this is needed during the calculation later
The velocity was measured at 1.510 m and 1.512 m of water depth . The water will
flow from the 1.512 m to the 1.510 m depth of the channel. The water will flow from the high
depth to the lower depth. The characteristic of channel have been collected in order to
determine the flow rate and n value using Manning equation. The materials that use to make
the channel are non- metal which is cement and also mortar. So , the dimensions of open
channel will changes due to a several factors such as channel roughness, erosion and others.
