Subject: Progress Report for iFixit Project for CSUF-BRUCE-F15S1G3
Purpose
We are pleased to inform you of our current status regarding the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0, for
the iFixit project.
Summary
In this memo, we will report the problems we have encountered while working on the Samsung
Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 for iFixIt. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0, also known as the Samsung SMT335, was launched on April 1, 2014. The 8-inch tablet is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core
processor, a 3 MP resolution, and the main display is 1280 x 800 (WXGA). We will list our
completed tasks, inform you of our current work, and explain the remaining responsibilities to be
completed for the iFixit project.
Problems Encountered
The biggest problem we have encountered so far was attaining the correct URL for our
troubleshooting page. Though difficulty was experienced, our work was luckily saved after the
Technical Writing Team added the student flag to the troubleshooting wiki.
After further research, we felt that the proposed troubleshooting topic rebooting was imprecise.
To provide an efficient and salient troubleshooting page, we replaced the rebooting
troubleshooting guide with one focusing on the tablet not turning on.
Completed iFixit Tasks
Getting started: Joined an iFixit team, researched, and created a proposal
To get started on the iFixit Technical Writing project, each team member signed up and
joined a student team with the tag name: CSUF-BRUCE-F15S1G3.
Thorough research was done on the device (Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0) to determine the
topics for the troubleshooting page and guides.
Approval for the proposal was received from the iFixit Technical Writing Team.
Milestone 1: Troubleshooting page
The troubleshooting page for our device was created.
Causes and solutions were included in the troubleshooting page to assist users when
determining the state of their device.
Milestone 2: Device page
A device page was constructed to guide fixers identify the issue of their devices and
organize the devices guides on one homepage.
Included in the device page is an image of the tablet, thorough information describing the
device, three helpful links, and many support questions with answers to allow for easy
maneuvering between the repaired guides.

Current Work
At this moment, we have completed the troubleshooting page and our leader, Ofelia Cruz,
submitted it on October 12. We are currently working on our first guide page: replacing the
battery. We are in the process of dismantling our tablet and taking great quality photos to add to
the guides.
Remaining Work
As of today, we will work on the replacement guides for our device and submit our first
replacement guide for front facing camera by October 29. We will process to dismantle the
Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0. The other three guides for the back facing camera, the power lock
button, and the LCD screen will be completed on November 9 and ready to be reviewed by our
peers. In addition, we will work on our evaluation memo in order to submit it on November 12.
Updated Schedule
The completed tasks are represented as the dark blue bars. The uncompleted tasks are
