NEWSCAST

Hello, Im Ryan Sullivan, its 5 P-M, and here are todays top stories.
Yesterday was Election Day, and here in Monroe County, Republicans are celebrating several
key victories. G-O-P candidates won the Monroe County executives seat, five judicial positions,
an additional seat in the Monroe County legislature, and retained the District Attorneys office.
Democrats, however, did increase their majority in the Rochester City Council by winning the
only open seat.

Police have identified a man who was killed in Rochester as 27-year-old Jonathon Delgado.
Delgado was found by police on Monday after being shot multiple times. He was rushed to
Rochester General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police have yet to find any suspects
in his death.

House Democrats are pushing for a bill to restore federal oversight of voting procedures. This
comes after warnings that voters could face restricted access to the ballot box for next years
presidential election unless the Voting Rights Act is updated. Democrats are pressuring
Republican leaders for a hearing on this bill, which would allow the federal government to
screen voting procedures for discriminatory practices.

In international news, U-S Intelligence suggests that the Russian jet that crashed in Egypt on
Saturday was brought down by a bomb planted on board by ISIS or an affiliated terror group.
Multiple U.S. officials stated that the crash was most likely caused by an explosive device and
that someone at the airport assisted in getting the device on board the plane. The Egyptian
authorities leading the investigation have yet to comment on to these reports, but Russian
officials have stated that there is no evidence to support claims of responsibility made by ISIS.
The crash is still under investigation.
