Inez,

After careful review and consideration about Kyle Houstons efforts at Anders Consulting, I believe he
would benefit from additional development before being placed as Team Leader. My recommendation
of Kyle is based solely on peer evaluations and observations Ive made as his supervisor over the last 6
months. The categories that Kyle was evaluated on were contributing, listening, and facilitating group
problem solving. These three categories provide an accurate representation of Kyles abilities at Anders
Consulting.
In the category of Contributing, Kyle scored a 2.83 out of a possible 3. He offers valuable ideas and
suggestions, attends all meetings, and meets all deadlines proving that he is an important asset to his
team. Kyles high score in this category demonstrates that he is a good team member and that one day
he could be a possible team leader.
In the category of Listening, Kyle scored a 1.96 out of a possible 3. Kyle tends to try and control the
group with his ideas and doesnt always allow members to share their ideas. He often struggles to
summarize and clarify suggested ideas because he wasnt listening entirely. Some of these actions are
disheartening to me and until his listening skills improve, his peers may not respect him as a team
leader.
In the last category of Facilitating Group Problem Solving, Kyle scored a 2.18 out of a possible 3.
Although Kyle did score better in the category than the Listening one, he barely exceeded the ok
mark. He does succeed in asking questions to organize discussions but he has been known to only
discuss what he feels is the best solution instead of taking others opinions into consideration.
Overall Kyle scored above average with a score of 2.42 out of a possible 3. Kyle is a great team member
and has some great attributes about him. However, he still exhibits some characteristics that are not
those of a successful team leader. I feel with some additional time focusing on his listening skills and
ability to allow others to express their opinions, I can help assist Kyle become a great team leader one
day.
Kyle and I did discuss these concerns at our evaluation meeting and we have determined a project
where he will be assigned to work on his communication skills. By doing this, he will be better prepared
the next time an opportunity like this arises. Thank you for trusting me to provide a recommendation
like this and if you have any questions or comments, please let me know.

Thanks,

Breanna Tvrdy, Team Leader- Anders Consulting
