presentations and what approaches work best in certain
situations.

-I will have students complete a Do Now at the beginning of
class where they will brainstorm on the topic of public speaking.
Students will have the opportunity to work in groups of two in
order to complete a graphic organizer regarding this topic.
-Next, I will give my students a handout that will cover my
lesson with points of emphasis and important vocabulary.
-After giving my students a brief overview about public
speaking, I will then present them to a short film that will
introduce them to new information regarding this topic. During
this short film, students will be able to complete another graphic
organizer; in this case a T-Chart to compare and contrast the
different forms of public speaking and which approach works
best in a certain situation. In this activity, I will provide the
students with the elements they should compare, for example, I
would ask, If you were told at last minute to present a speech,
which speech approach would you use, an impromptu or a
ceremonial speech and please explain why. Students will have
to answer by comparing and contrasting the two.
-Finally, students will have to write a short speech about

themselves to present to the class.
