Students think critically and creatively: From this course I have learned how to think
critically by analyzing each reading/article. By thinking critically while reading the texts helps
look deeper into the real meanings of the readings. The way thinking creatively works best for
me is if I am reading with an open mind. Reading with an open mind helps think critically and
creatively.
Students develop the knowledge and skills of community engaged learners and scholars:
From this course I attained these skills by going to a BYU art museum and a community event. I
was engaged in both activities and it involved others of the community, giving me a new set of
skills. By going to the art museum I achieved learning about different things in a community
setting. This course helped me achieve those skills by making an assignment to do things in the
community, and it worked to my benefit.
What I loved about this course was that it gave me a new aspect on the world. It gave me
a sense of open-mindedness, and taking things in with no previous assumptions makes a
difference on how I felt about certain things. Looking at things now compared to before this
course, I have better knowledge and a better mind-set. Another major thing I learned from this
course was how to ask questions, answer questions, and give insight to a conversation. This
course also gave me a new communication skill. What also stood out from this course was our

ability to have an open discussion with different opinions and still take in other ideas. Going into
this class with an open-mind helped me achieve what I wanted from this course.
