PERSONAL NARRATIVE

Composition I | Fall 2015

A personal narrative is a true story you tell from your own life. It is
personal, meaning it comes directly from your own personal experience
and says something about who you are. It is a narrative, meaning it must
tell a story with a sequence of events.
Goals
This assignment is designed to help you learn how to think reflectively and
write persuasively by talking about an issue youre all interested and need
no research to write about: yourself. It will help you:

focus on a central theme (i.e. thesis)
develop setting and character

Requirements
3-4 pages, double-spaced, 1 margins, Times New Romans or
Calibri font
print one-sided (not duplex)
must include your name, due date, class name, and name of
teacher at beginning
must focus on a central theme (e.g. motif, metaphor, lesson
learned, etc...)
must have a descriptive title
must have an introduction, a body, and a conclusion
no outside research required
