Phasor Analysis

ELCITWO
(Phasor Leading to AC Network Analysis)

Phasor -

a vector that represents a sinusoidally varying quantity, as a

current
or
voltage,
by
means
of
a
line rotating about a point in a plane, the magnitude of the
quantity being proportional to the length of the
line and the phase of the quantity being equal to the angle
between the line and a reference line.

Exercises
1. Determine the value of the given phasor
expression. Express the final answer in polar
form.
Z = {[(6 + j3)(2 j3)]/(5+j6)} {[(2<10)(5+j2)]/(6+j3)}

Answer: 3.365<-108.31

2. Determine the value of the given phasor

expression. Express the final answer in polar
form.

Z =(2<15)3 (5+j4)1/2 + 6<25

Answer:
Z = 11.398 <40.19 or
Z = 16.227<33.81

3. A pure inductance L has a current of i = 10 sin

(350t + 100) A. Determine the voltage across
this element if L is (a) 0.1H and (b) 1H.
Answers:
a) 350 sin (350t + 190) V
b) 3500 sin (350t + 190) V

4. Determine the value of the given phasor

expression. Express the final answer in polar
form.
Z = {[10<30+(2+j6)(5<30)]/[2]} {[5ej30+5e-j30]/[2-j6]}

Answer: 24.680<157.88
