Fluency is the ability to perform

You can make flash cards with


different words in a category such as
different colors or shapes, and have
your child read to you aloud what
word they see on the card! This will
help your child to read the words more
fluently. You can also have them name
the letters in each word to work on
repetition.

Comprehension is the ability to


understand and take meaning from
both spoken and written language.

ball and play catch with your child.
Have them say the word out loud
that their pointer finger lands on.

means. You can also have them write
it down to have them visualize the
word as well! You can write words
such as body parts, colors, or shapes
to begin!
