Self Authorship Essay 2
Five years from now I will have a well-paying job. I will have a wife
with whom I will be very happy. We will live in my true home, Raleigh, North
Carolina. Our house will be large with the biggest yard possible, and in a
nice neighborhood with other young couples that will provide friendship
opportunities for myself and my wife, as well as other children that my own
children can grow up with. We will have a garage at this house, which will
hold cars that I will aspire to purchase. For the time-being, however, it will
hold my Chevrolet Tahoe and my wifes BMW X5. We will have only one pet,
a dog, naturally, so that there are no other pets to distract attention from it.
This dog will be a German Shepherd. It will be big, strong, resilient and
masculine, but will be equally as caring and loving of our family and friends.
This dog will be as smart as they come, and will obey orders and enjoy
playing outside with myself, or my children, or whomever may be available
to spend time with him. My family will be members of the Carolina Country
Club, where we will spend much time, and where my children will be raised
properly. Here I will play golf as much as I can, and attend social functions
from time-to-time as well. I hope it will be the ideal social outlet for my wife,

who I have no doubt will be a social person since such a person would be a
strongly compatible match to myself.
Gratitude is a personal character strength that will be highly influential
in my future role in life. As a father, I believe such a character strength will
allow me to be a strong role model for my children. It is extremely important
to me that my children are kind and respectful. Developing their own sense
of gratitude will be the ideal foundation for allowing my children to develop a
true sense of kindness and respect. My gratitude character strength is
something that I also hope will help me to be an appreciative husband. I
know that my wife will be a truly special person, someone who will deserve
nothing but the best. It is my true aim to express my utmost gratitude to her
in every way possible for the work that Im sure will come with being my wife
and the mother of my children. I also hope that my gratitude character
strength will allow me to be a pleasant coworker. The workplace is a very
demanding arena, and I know that that is difficult on most people, especially
in the engineering field, so it is my hope that I can use gratitude to help my
coworkers to feel appreciated and content with their daily work efforts and
interactions with myself.
My future career will be extremely important to me. I will want nothing
more than to do the best possible work and to always work harder than the
next guy. My career will also draw importance from the fact that it will be
interesting to me, as that is the case with most careers in the field of
mechanical engineering. Nonetheless, my personal interests will surely not

fade away from my personal agenda. Golf is a truly special game and one I
have grown very attached to, so I fully intend to keep enjoying all that has to
offer throughout my career and even into old age and retirement. That is
one of the many aspects of the game that makes it so unique, is that it can,
and will, stay with you forever. Incorporating golf into my agenda will allow
me the proper amount of personal time and release necessary to lead an
engaged daily life.
Five years from now I will have bountiful positive relationships in my
life. First and foremost, will be with my wife. She and I will be a powerful
team, and together we will be capable of accomplishing anything. Living our
daily lives together and through each other will only continue to strengthen
our relationship and its positivity. My relationship with my biological family
will stay strong as well, both with my siblings and my parents. Living in
Raleigh will allow me to be in close proximity to them and will permit me the
opportunity to interact with them often. My coworkers and I will also have
positive relationships, in a manner that is both professional and, possibly in
some instances, personal. I plan to work hard to ensure that our daily
professional interactions are as positive and professional as possible. I also
plan to have positive relationships with friends that I gain from non workrelated social events, through the Carolina Country Club or through Hayes
Barton United Methodist Church. I will interact with country club members
often and in a positive light through social events or through sports outings,
most likely primarily consisting of golf. Church members I will interact with

every Sunday in a positive way as well, and hopefully in a way thatll allow
me to meet similar age adults who will have children that can provide
friendship to mine.
My life will have meaning more through my family than anything else.
I believe this is a direct result of my family core value. I have always wanted
to provide for my family. It is very important to me that the members of my
family never have to worry about anything, whether it be money, safety,
health, or anything else. I also want to provide for my family by raising my
children right. I hold in high regard a good education, and a proper
upbringing that instills the proper southern values in my children, etiquette,
appreciation, and respect among other things. It will be my highest priority
to ensure that my children are granted all of these things. Meaning will stem
from charitable contributions and support as well. There are no individuals I
respect and appreciate more than the brave men and women of our United
States armed forces, who dedicate their lives to the service and protection of
our great nation. I will do all in my realm of personal influence and power to
give these truly heroic individuals my support in any way necessary. I plan to
contribute consistently to the Wounded Warrior Project specifically. Their
mission is truly admirable and something I hope to support strongly.

To my readers:

My one and only concern in regards to my draft is that it may lack

proper organizational structure.

My readers can help me by determining as a third party whether my

draft does indeed lack structure or if it is sufficient in that regard.

I believe my draft is clear in what I am trying to say.

My Response

Zach Serapin
I think the lack of organizational structure actually works well for this
essay. The essay is clear and I believe I am able to understand the
points you are trying to make. I might try to introduce your core value
at the beginning of the essay as sort of a tone setter for the rest of the
paper. You obviously have your future life very well planned out.
Maybe you could add a paragraph somewhere about how your life
would be impacted if a couple things in your plan do not work out.
Besides continuing to play and follow golf is there anything else you

would want to do relating to it?

Mason Slingluff
I dont think professor Jizi cares very much in the structure of our
essays so I dont think you need any revisions in that aspect. Your
essay is very well worded and I can understand exactly what youre

trying to portray.

Seems pretty organized to me, good flow and timeline of events
