Dear Mr. Cash,
When looking for a job I wanted to find a company I could be passionate about and look to as a
long term career. My name is Alex Hartle and I am studying for a bachelors degree in
Management of Information Systems at Washington State University. From previous education at
the university I was given the chance to work with biology and genetics. Although I choose this
not to be my main area of study I still have a deep passion for the subject. This has brought me to
Gene Codes Corporation with the job of Application Programmer. Getting to work in the field of
computer informatics and bioinformatics seems like the perfect combination of my academic
interests.
I have experience in working with and managing groups of people on both short-term and longterm projects. Not only is this experience through school projects, but I have 8 years of
experience in instructing and teaching people with physical and mental disabilities in Okinawan
Karate. This has taught me how to deal with people with a multitude of different strengths and
challenges.
My studying at Washington State University has given me the knowledge of working with Visual
Studio and C++. I was presented the opportunity to set up a small business's personal database
and designed a sales and order tracking system. Even after the education is finished with Visual
Studio I am going to keep learning and practicing with the system as to improve my experience.
The chance of working as an Application Programmer for Gene Codes would be right along both
my personal goals of working with some relation to genetics and professional career of working
