Macromolecules?
Polymer
Monomer
Hydrolysis
Carbohydrates
What is an example
of a Carb?
Lipids
What is an example

Can bond with many element including H, O, P, S, and N.

Can also bond with itself.
Cohesive and Adhesive properties
Carbohydrates
Lipids
Nucleic Acids
Proteins
They are large, organic molecules that make up all of lives organisms

A large molecule consisting of many sub-units bonded together.

A sub-unit of a polymer

Polymers = broken down into monomers.

Made up of CH and has structure that looks like ring
Short term energy
An example of a carbohydrate is oatmeal.

Made up of CHO
Long term stored energy, makes hormones, and makes cholesterol
An example of a lipid is butter.
Made up of CHON
Makes enzymes and builds/repairs the body
An example of a protein is meat.

Made up of CHONP
Store and transmit genetic info
Nucleotides are the building block of Nucleic Acids.

Summary: This we learned a lot about macromolecules. On Monday we focused on carbohydrates and their
monomers, structure, and function. On Tuesday, we learned about lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. On
Wednesday, we did a little bit of review and we did a chart about the information on the macromolecules. We also
wrote a couple of notes on saturated fat and unsaturated fat. Finally, on Thursday, we didnt really do much
because the class was really short. We just wrote new goals and reflected on the first quarter.
