Rationale-Reflection
As a teacher, my goal is to see each on of my students grow and
reach the highest potential they can. Part of achieving this goal, is to
help students with language immersion. Whether the student is in
kindergarten or an ELL, this is essential in them reaching their goals. I
recently completed student teaching kindergarten, which is filled with
language immersion. That experience taught me how to bring
language standards into every aspect of teaching. Doing that enables
students to not only grow in content area, but also language as well.
From student teaching I also had the opportunity to work on many
assignments that fostered diversity and language development. Being
able to focus in on those helped me realize the importance of creating
a safe classroom environment, where everyone feels comfortable to
take risks and learn.
Every student learns different, because of that I will constantly
be adapting my teaching strategies to each student and their specific
needs. Realizing that every student has different needs brings up that
every student has a different background and different experiences. I
plan on bringing each on of my students culture and languages into
the classroom. This should never be something they are ashamed of; it
is something to be celebrated. I will also give my students shared
experiences, so no one feels left out because of their culture or
experiences.
