Dear CCI participant, Pedro Camilo Caldern Rodriguez Congratulations on your successful application to study in the United States as a participant in the Department of States Community College Initiative (CCI) Program! At your Pre-Departure Orientation, a representative from the U.S. Public Affairs Section of the Embassy or the Fulbright Commission will provide you with important information about how to prepare for, and take best advantage of, the opportunity to study at a U.S. community college. The Department of State works with three different groups or consortia of U.S. community colleges to administer the CCI Program. They are the Community College Consortium, IREX, and the Northwest Community College Initiative. Together they will host CCI participants in approximately 16 community colleges in 10 states this upcoming academic year. To help you prepare for your participation in the CCI Program, each consortium will work with our in-country partner organizations (the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy or a Fulbright Commission) to give you information about your host college, the area in the U.S. where your CCI experience will take place, and a welcome packet to introduce you to your campus and program coordinators. Your host consortium will also provide an e-mail address, a program website, or Facebook link as a means of getting your questions answered. Please review their pre-departure materials thoroughly when you receive them and ask any questions that you may have. All CCI host colleges want you to succeed. They are actively planning now for your arrival and summer program. Your host consortium will contact you soon to meet you, share details about your college placement, and help you begin to map out your personal and professional development plan for the upcoming year. We hope you are excited to start your CCI experience in the United States! Sincerely, The State Departments CCI Team
