As a student attending Glendale Community College and currently enrolled in English
101 some of the challenges I encountered were having poor writing skills and struggling a lot
with the structure of the introduction of essays, but by the time I wrote my last essay in my
current English 101 class I feel like I knew exactly how to structure an introduction, and this will
extremely improved the outcome of any future essays I have to write. In this class I feel like I
was made aware of my critical thinking skills and have expanded these skills with the help of the
many books and passages that we read throughout the semester which overall improved my
essays structure as a whole.
Critical thinking also played a big part in helping me see things the way I choose, and not
be influenced by others. It also played a big role in my other classes such as: Economics 102
(macro), Speech 101, and Math 112 (business cal). These skills gave me the ability to portray a
different aspect towards these classes and the assignments that were given. I also realized that in
order to fully understand what I was reading I had to have a dictionary tab open at all time to
truly understand the text and keep up with what the authors writing. Having an open mind about
the topics being presented in this class helped me, and specifically in the book "A World of
Idols. In this book Andrew Cargneige explains what his Idols are and why we should be very
careful to not fall victims of them.

Throughout my English 101 course I believe I have done well for someone with my
background and limited knowledge on the topics that were presented class. I also think I
presented my best work and tried my absolute hardest on each one of my timed exam essays. I
also am very happy to have been exposed to the literature presented in this class because it
helped me have an open mind about everything, yet still question everything. It helped me
realize that everything needs a balance between skepticism and open mindedness. I think that my
grammar improved simnifically, even though my spelling is not the best I think it improved also.
