Dear parent or guardian,

Welcome to high school art class! I am very excited to work with you and your child this
year. The students and I will be very productive with many hands-on projects that they will be
able to display and later gather to take home at the end of the year.
In my classroom, the overall objective is to teach students the basic history of art with
corresponding projects with each progression of each era of art from ancient to modern. I expect
each and every student to have an open mind to each task. Each student will be given a simple
subject for each project and will be assigned to expand their minds to show creativity and
personalization within the composition. All general supplies will be paid for and offered to the
students during their term in the classroom, which includes drawing utensils, paintbrushes, paint,
erasers, paper, canvases, and more. Understanding the importance of supplies used and objects
used within the composition, I will make a great effort to retrieve extra supplies needed by any
individual student.
NOTE: Art class offers extracurricular activities such as field trips, art shows, and the
coveted VASE and TRAHC art competitions. Students have every right to be involved in every
art related activity here at Chisum and will be greatly informed about each activity in order for a
chance to be involved in them as much as possible.
Again, I am very excited to introduce the eras and levels of art to your child. I guarantee
that it will be a fun-filled experience with many projects to complete with step-by-step visuals
and instructions to make things smooth and easy!
