Assessment: Writers Workshop: Color Words

Assessment can be seen in the Writers workshop lesson on

color words. Students in this lesson came up with creative colors
to improve writing, rather than just saying the blue sky, they
would choose to say the aqua blue sky. As for other colors they
could use: swampy green, the sky fades to blackberry blue). The
students went back into their writing and used some of these
new color words to improve their writing. The closure was used
to assess students understanding. Students displayed their
sentences on a chart titled Our Colorful Sentences. By having
the chart and reviewing the sentences orally, the students were
empowered to use others examples to improve their own
writing.
