Violent Media is Good for Kids

Despite what people say about violent media being horrible and that
children should not be exposed to it, violent entertainment actually is
productive in more ways than one would expect. Although it has some
downfalls and isnt completely harmless, the reality is that it helps more
people than it harms. Some violent media teaches children about tolerance
and how to control their anger and rage. Every child will have these
feelings at some point or another and sometimes they dont always
understand how to express them in a reasonable manor. Violent media can
be helpful in this expression. For example, superhero type media can help
kids get over the feeling of powerlessness. Dual-identity type characters
can help kids figure out how to work with the struggle of their inner self
versus the public, such as in peer pressure. The bottom line is that
children can often relate to these stories/games/videos/etc. They feel as
though they have found something similar to what they are feeling. It
helps them to better understand what they are feeling, and therefor they
present their emotions in an appropriate manor.
