Urine pH

This is tested to identify metabolic acidosis,


ketosis, or alkalosis. This can also be used to
identify types of calculi on the bladder.
The tests principle is double indicator.
Methyl red detects acidity, producing yellow to red
color transition; and bromthymol blue indicates
basicity, producing green to blue color transition.
The test can gauge pH from 5.0 to 8.5
