Meme Reflection

1. For my Meme project I chose being a cheerleader. I chose this topic because I have been
a cheerleader for 11 years, and I have heard every stereotype possible about cheerleaders.
It was easy for me to make the funny collage of pictures that show the stereotypes I have
encountered.
2. For the first photo, I pictured what society believes cheerleaders do. Some consider NFL
cheerleading to be the highest level of cheerleading. But in reality these women are
mostly dancers if not glorified strippers. When you google cheerleaders all that comes
up are pictures of these women in their small uniforms. For the second picture I chose
the movie cover of a popular cheerleading movie Bring it on to represent what my
friends think I do at cheerleading. The movie follows a cheerleading team that is faced
with drama within their team and rivalries with other teams, rather than actual
cheerleading. The next photo I chose is an old picture of cheerleaders. Every time I visit
my grandparents they ask about cheer and tell me what cheerleaders back in their day did.
Next picture is of two girls who are dressed extremely goofy, and look like they have
been to a party. My parents think that being a cheerleader is like being in a big social
club. What I think I do at cheerleading is completely different than all of the rest. I know
cheerleading takes a lot of hard work to achieve stunts and execute tumbling. But in

reality my last picture is the most accurate. At cheerleading 99% of the time someone
gets hurt.
3. With my choice of material I hope the reader could see the many different stereotypes
cheerleaders face.
4. I would rate myself an 8.5-9. I took a lot of time and effort to think of my different

pictures. I went through many possible pictures but didnt settle until I found ones that
would serve my purpose. Ultimately, my meme conveys my message of stereotypes to
the reader extremely well.
