High Frequency Test Fixture Design

Background
Cab mounts are used to lower noise, vibration, and
displacement in the cab.

LORD has a current test fixture that is only suitable

for low frequency testing (<60Hz).

Finite Element Analysis

A frequency sweep
test of the original
fixture was
performed
to find natural
frequencies within
the testing range.

Objective
To design a high frequency
test fixture and test plan for
characterization of LORDs
cab viscous mounts.
The fixture must be able to
be tested axially and
radially at frequencies of
100 to 1000 Hz.

Final Design
The new design concentrates on modifying the top
plate and support posts to increase rigidity.

Finite element analysis was used on the original

fixture to show any natural frequencies.

The support posts have

been redesigned.

Stiffeners were added

to the top plate to
increase rigidity.

The bottom plate was

modified to allow for
axial and radial testing.

Testing concluded that the top plate and two-part

supports posts were the main problem areas that
occur in the testing frequency range.
