Observed Lesson:
This evaluator had the opportunity to observe Ms. Coopers 7th period English 10R class
on Tuesday, December 1, 2015. Using the play, Antigone as the frame of reference, the
observed lesson focused on the concept of dialect and how understanding this concept
helped the reader gain insight into the play.
Ms. Cooper began her lesson by quickly breaking her students into groups and asking
them to share the results of the previous nights homework assignment on dialect. This
sharing exercise took approximately ten minutes..
Students, remaining in their groups, were then assigned a specific passage from th34 play
and were asked to translate the passage into their selected dialect. Students used the
remaining thirty minutes of class time to work on this assignment.
The group work product was collected and the students were dismissed at the bell.
