The Solution Architect (SA) acts as the lead technical resource responsible for

creating an optimum design to meet the customer s requirements. The SA should ens
ure that the configuration is supported and adheres to EMC best practices and re
commendations for RAID groups and LUN layout to meet there I/O requirements. The
design created should include environment configuration information, SAN zoning
, and a mapping of the LUN layout to host volumes. Any layered applications or o
ther EMC software purchased may also go through the design process.
The Customer Engineer (CE) is responsible for installation of the hardware and a
ny Array based software included on the sales order. The CE would then setup the
Gateway or dial home, Set Switch IP Addresses, and validate the Array hardware.
The Implementation Specialist is responsible for implementing the configuration
designed by the SA, including binding and configuring all LUNs; implementing Pow
erPath Full or Base on the hosts; and applying the SAN Zone set. The IS would th
en validate the implementation going through an agreed upon test plan and then p
rovide a knowledge transfer to the customer making recommendations for following
EMC best practices as part of there standard operational procedures.
