linear Phrases Using Single Sixteenths The following exercises use the single stroke concept to create linear phrases between the hands and feet. A linear phrase is one where no two notes are played at the same time, AIL examples are played hand-to-hand leading with the right hand. They begin by incor- porating single notes with the feet, working up to groups of four notes. ‘These exercises are a great way of improving side to side and top to bottom movement between the limbs.
