Question:
What qualities do you believe are necessary for a global manager to be effective? Name the
characteristics/attributes of an effective global manager.
Answer:
According to me the following characteristics/attributes are required in a global manager to be
effective:1. Cultural Awareness- In order to conduct business globally a global manager needs to be
culturally aware which means he should have the knowledge about the cultural
perspectives and the business trends taking place internationally.
2. Negotiating Skills- For carrying out business across borders a global manager requires
negotiating skills wherein he finds a solution or an agreement which is of mutual benefit
to both parties involved.
3. Strategic Awareness- The global manager should have the skill to acquire information and
the intelligence to incorporate knowledge.
4. Networking Skills- Networking skills are an important characteristic for maintaining
connections at a global level. A global manager should be open-minded and respect
global managers from other countries in order to have a healthy relationship.
5. Language Skills- One of the key characteristics of a global manager is to interact in
different language as it becomes a word of praise to conduct business negotiations.

6. Honesty- A global leader should also be honest, optimistic, empathetic and flexible to an
extent in order to maintain reputation and business relationships.
