I created a presentation on Prezi about the Spanish preterite/past tense. There is

not a curriculum standard because there are not curriculum standards for Spanish. The
link to my Prezi is:

You can also find the Prezi on my website (below this document, on my website).
This serves as Augmentation in the SAMR model because I could teach this using
a whiteboard. However, with the Prezi, it is more interactive and visual for the students,
with pictures and words. I would use this presentation in my classroom for a lesson on
the past tense. I would start by having students brainstorm how we speak in English in
the past, and then we would move to the Prezi to present this specific way in the past (for
Spanish). I would present the Prezi myself, and have students take notes, as well as I
would go through an example thoroughly for each type of verb (-AR, -ER, and IR). At
the end of class, students would do examples on a worksheet to practice conjugating
verbs in the preterite tense. Then for homework they would tie everything together by
writing a one-page assignment about what they did that day using the preterite tense. I
can see myself using Prezis very occasionally in my classroom, but not too often just
like everything, it needs moderation. I think that if you use it too often, students become
bored, but also rely on the fact that they will just have all of the notes and answers up
on the board for them to copy down (they can become lazy and stop actively listening,
which means that they might not learn it). So, I want to make sure that I mix it up
sometimes.
The homework assignment for the students to do from this lesson will be to write
a one-page story of what they did that day using the preterite/past tense. Rubrics are very
useful in the classroom because they help students know exactly what they need to
do/what the teacher is expecting. Further, it also helps the teacher in grading because the
teacher has clearly laid out grades for the ways in which a student can perform. The
rubric that I made to go along with my lesson/the assignment is on the next page.
