WIRES

BY: JONATHON ENGLISH

STRANDED WIRE
A stranded wire is a lot of small wires twisted together to form a one large wire. It is
mainly used when there is a lot of movement involved.

SOLID WIRE
A solid wire is one solid wire wrapped by a conductor. It is mainly used when little
movement is needed.

WIRE GAUGE
A wire gauge is a measurement of how large a wire is in diameter or cross. This
tells how much power will run through a wire.

TYPE OF INSULATION WIRES USE

Wires can use electroplate, polyester, paper tape, or extruded semi-conducting

polymer shield for MV designs.

USES FOR STRANDED WIRES

Stranded wires are used when bending is needed or if there is movement involved.
Stranded wires are commonly used in circuit boards.

USES FOR SOLID WIRES

Solid wires are used for a straight connected or when little movement is needed.
They are typically used when wiring breadboards.
