Living expenses

London is one of the most exciting and rewarding cities to live in the world! It is much
cheaper to live in London as a full-time student with the large range of discounts
available on almost everything from public transport to theatre tickets.
Rough guide to expenses
As a rough guide, our following estimates are the minimum spend to live in
reasonable comfort, excluding tuition fees. These cover:
accommodation
food
travel within London.
For more details about travel costs see the Transport for London website).
Additional expenses may include:
travel outside London
books
clothing
thesis presentations.

Living expenses will depend on the type of accommodation you have.


Estimated expenses are for a full year for the 2013-14 session. Price increases and
unexpected expenditure should be taken into account. Students arranging initial
short-term accommodation on arrival in London need to budget for this. If you have
dependent children, we recommend that you add 2,500 per child.

Border Agency to demonstrate that they are able to meet the total costs of their
study. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have sufficient funds to cover all
