Black Holes and Comets
My portfolio presentation was on Black Holes and
Comets. I dont know much about these things yet; I rarely
know anything about space. There is so much to learn about
space, stars, and the universe itself. Both my PowerPoint
presentation and my paper will give you new information on
Black Holes and Comets.
According to NASA, a black hole is the amount of
matter, or "stuff," in an object. Another kind of black hole is
called "stellar." Its mass can be up to 20 times more than the
mass of the sun. There may be many, many stellar mass
black holes in Earth's galaxy. Earth's galaxy is called the
Milky Way. This is saying that there is hundreds of black
holes in our galaxy and we probably will never be able to
discover each and every one of them.
There are many comets in our universe and in black
holes even. The definition of a comet is: an icy small Solar
System body that, when passing close to the Sun, heats up
and begins to outgas, displaying a visible atmosphere or
coma, and sometimes also a tail. These phenomena are due
to the effects of solar radiation and the solar wind upon the
nucleus of the comet. Comets can be seen bye the naked
eye on earths ground and are what we refer to as a shooting
star.
These are just some of the basic definitions and
importances of black holes and comets. There is so much to
learn and discover in space.
