Decisions we make as a child can affect us for the rest of our life. In chapter two,
Wes gets into some trouble during a heated game of football. When one of the kids
punches him in the face, Wes remembers his half brothers words, telling him to, send a
message. He runs back to his house and gets a knife. However, Wes is not able to send a
message because when he gets outside a policeman slams him into the back of a police
car and arrests him. Because Wes was only eight years old at this time, this is probably
foreshadowing trouble in Wes future. I believe Wes reacted this way because he wanted
to do what his brother had taught him to do. I believe that because his brother had told
him to, send a message Wes thought be was doing the right thing. However, I believe
the right thing would have been to stay out of trouble, and not getting involved when
there was trouble. I believe that because Wes was so young during the time of the
incident, this foreshadows a life style Wes may become involved in. In conclusion , Wes
was involved in a dangerous situation at a young age, and this may be something that will
happen again in his future.
