    Thebookwasalotmoredifferentthistime.Originally,thebooksetdownsomeground
    inthebeginningbytalkingaboutDJKoolHerc,whattheBronxwasanditsatmosphere,gangs
    liketheghettobrothers,andAfrikaBambaataa.Ididntenjoyreadingaboutthoseinthe
    beginningbecauseitwasunfamiliar.IdidntknowanythingabouttheBronxandIonlyheard
    aboutAfrikaBambaataawhenIrecalledawikipediaarticleonhim.
    Backtotheactualreading,IfeltaconnectionwhenIwasreadingaboutGrandmaster
    FlashandTheClash.IveheardaboutTheClashingeneralandIknowhowGrandmasterFlash
    andtheFuriousFivecametogether.Isawthebookfollowthiskindofpatternofintroducing
    someone,buildingfamiliaritywiththem,andthenconnectingthemwithsomeoneelse.Then
    afteryoulearnaboutthatnewlyintroducedperson,thewholethingstartsagain.Ialsogot
    exactlywhatIwasaskingforinmypreviousreadingresponse.Iwantedmoreonthepillarsof
    hiphopanditgavemealotofinformationaboutgraffitiasanartform,howitgrew,Henry
    Chalfant,theAhearntwins,andRockSteadyCrew.
    Myreadingkindofmadememisstheideaofthosetimes,eventhoughInever
    experiencedthem.Ithinkitshonestlycoolhowthereareyoungpeoplewentoutanddidsome
    majorthings.MostofRocksteadyweretheseyoungkids,likeCrazylegs.LeeQuinoneswasan
    artistwhomadeanameforhimself,kidsontheplaygroundknewhim,andhewasstillhigh
    school.AfrikaBambaataawouldjustbringhisequipment,walkaroundandnotifyothersabout
    hisparty,andtheywouldallmarchdowntotheparty.Iseepeoplebackthenasthosewhowent
    anddidthings,insteadofwishingtheydidthings.
    Aswithmostthingsinlife,Ihadanissue.Specifically,IwasconfusedbyMalcolm
    Mclaren.Hesassociatedwithexploitationintheparagraphintroducinghim,soyouthinkofhim
    asavillainofsorts.Thenyoulearnabouthisgeneraldadaistnonsenseandhisplantoexploit
    hiphop.NowIreallydontliketheguy,butthenhereleasesastunninglittlesinglecalled
    BuffaloGals.NexthereleasesDuckRock,whichisaridiculoustitleforanything,andis
    calledbackwardsbrilliant.AfrikaBambaataaalsocalledhimaculturevulture.Imnotsureif
    hessomeonewhomadeanattempttospreadthewordabouthiphopbymakingtheDuck
    Rockvideoorifhewasjustafailedwanttobeartist.IfIweighitallagainsthimthenyeahhe
    wasanexploitativefailure.Myinitialconfusionhadmethinking,doesthebookwantmetotake
    viewsandconvincemeofwhosbadorgood,ordoes/shoulditpresentfactstomeandletme
    decide?

    OverallIwasabletohaveamoreenjoyablereadthistime.Iunderstoodtheirreferences
    tothepreviousDJsandwasabletofollowwithwhatthebookwastellingme.
