The Helix/ramp dialog box contains options for adding a helix or ramp to the pocket
toolpath entry. Either a helix or a ramp may be added, but not both.
An entry helix will always try to use the maximum possible radius to use more of the side
of the end mill and less plunging. The direction of the entry helix usually matches the
toolpath direction.
Notes:
The helix/ramp options are off by default. If no helix/ramp options are set, Master cam
plunges the tool to the pocket depth at a chained point to start the pocket toolpath and
ignores the geometrys depth.
If you select the Follow boundary option and do not select the On failure option, the
Minimum radius, Maximum radius, and Center on entry point options are not available.
The Z clearance sets the Z axis distance above the current top of the stock where the
entry helix or ramp begins. The following graphics show examples of Z clearance for an
entry helix and an entry ramp.

The Plunge zig angle determines one of the angles of descent for the entry ramp. The
Plunge zag angle sets the last angle of the entry ramp. An entry ramp with a zag angle of
zero always starts with a zig angle. The following graphic shows an example of plunge zig
and zag angle for an entry ramp.
