Plot Overview

About the Author

Infinity takes place in New Orleans,

Louisiana. It uses many different POVs
all throughout the story but mainly
focuses on Nick Gautier; a 14 year old
teenager that lives with his mom,
Cherise Gautier. His dad is in prison for
mass murder and his mom works as a
stripper. So judging from just that you
can assume he gets bullied constantly
for that. He has also been poor all his life
and is constantly shamed by everyone
else and bullied until he either picks
fights with others or gets suspended
from his high school he got accepted
into because of how smart he is. He
lived all his life like that until one day he
gets shot by his former friends. Some
rich man named Kyrian pays his hospital
bill but he now has to work it off for him.
In his one day adventure it talks about
how Nick met all his friends. Some who
were previously really rude to him; and
even meets the girl of his dreams.
During this adventure Nick has to find
himself and keep himself sane and pure
in order to not become the powerful
demon he was born to be.

Sherrilyn Kenyon was born on

Essential Quotes
Historical Context
Infinity takes place in the 20th century
and brings up things and ideas that are
currently being used as of now. During
this time everything seems very similar
to what we currently live like, except that
monsters (vampires, demons, etc...)
are an actual thing. They walk amongst
the humans and usually do not disturb
them, except for the bad ones. There are
certain groups of demons and other
monsters that contribute to keeping the
humans and the planet safe. There are
also a lot of smart people that have IQs
over 160 and are just regarded as
normal people and are not very noticed.

I learned a long time ago not to judge people by

what they look like, sound like, or by the clothes
they wear. Just because a house is nice and shiny
out front doesnt mean its not rotting on the inside
(Sherrilyn Kenyon 153).

Great, I would get my first real kiss three seconds

before the zombies kill me (Kenyon 444).

Character Analysis

Nick Gautier
Nick is the protagonist and speaks like a
normal teenager would. Nick always thinks
lowly of himself. He has the ability to make
people like him for just being him. Nick acts as
a hero and always puts people before himself.
He wears very poor clothing from the goodwill
but has very handsome features.

Caleb Malphas
He has an accent (and can hide it) but that is
due to being hundreds of years old. Malphas
hates doing what he does and wants to stop
but is bound to protecting Nick. People think he
is very weak and underestimate his power.
Caleb is always doing everything he can do to
protect Nick, even though he may not like it. He
has red skin and yellow eyes in demon form but
looks like a normal teenager when in human
form.

Themes
The main theme of the story is staying
pure and good even when surrounded
by evil. All throughout the story Nick is
fighting himself from becoming evil and
demonic. Even when tortured and held
against his own will he fights to stay
human and good.

The Dagger
Nicks dagger represents how much the
mind and thinking can do in a person's
life. Just with thinking about the size of
his dagger it can instantly change into a
huge sword or a small pocket knife. Just
how thinking can either make you great
or make you crumble.

Another theme can be seen as survival

of the fittest. The protagonist is
constantly attacked by creatures and he
has to advance in something in order to
defeat the creatures and protect
everyone else.

The Gameboy
Nekoda gave Nick the gameboy in order
to spy on him but Nick thinks it was
because she was just being sweet. The
gameboy represents deception amongst
humans.

Another theme is to not bully when

bullied. Nick is bullied by almost every
Cherise Gautier
popular kid at school and instead of
She is Nicks mom and does everything she
being mad with everyone and hurting
can to keep them alive. She is 28 and very
other kids smaller than them, he tries to
beautiful. However, she has no support from
family because of the decision she made to not make people like him and protect those
abort Nick. She is very fierce and always bosss who are close to him.

Nick around in order to make him a good kid.

Adarian Malachai
Nick's demon dad that is in prison because he
slaughtered many people. He has no love
whatsoever but tries to protect them from
inside. He owns Caleb and bound him to
protecting Nick and Cherise. Though that is
only because it benefits him later on.

Motifs and Symbols

Bubbas shop
Bubba is thought of as a joke by
humanity because he knows about the
creatures while humans dont. So his
shop can symbolize blindness and
rejection. The humans are too blind to
realize what he talks about is real and
just reject him and think of him as some
fool. Even though he is a genius with
many awards that he has gotten.
