Simple Euphoria

Tim Clayton and Sawyer Blair

Euphoria, in necessity, means a state of intense happiness. When
we first got the assignment, we werent exactly sure on that
definition. We knew that it would be ambiguous to many of our
viewers as well, so we decided to try and simply portray this
complex word. Our goal was to display the transition to intense
happiness in three easy-to-understand ways that were all
contained within our story line. The plot: a sad, depressed pencil
gets sharpened to pristine exuberance. The three ways we got the
message of euphoria across were through the simple sharpening
of the picture, the change of a frowny face to a smiley face, and
the gradual increase in bright color. All of these shifts lead the
viewer to the end destination: euphoria.

Photo 1: Taken by Tim, modeled by Sawyer. This photo shows the dull, dark pencil, drawing a
frown on a colorless piece of paper.

Photo 2: Taken by Tim, modeled by Sawyer. The pencil is still dull, but it sees the
sharpener and gets a tad bit of happiness, shown with its color.

Photo 3: Taken by Tim, modeled by Sawyer. The pencil is in the process of getting
sharper, which is increasing its happiness. This is seen in the bright color.

Photo 4: Taken by Tim, modeled by Sawyer. The pencil is now fresh and sharp, and
its color is bright. The dull paper has changed to bright yellow.

Photo 5: Taken by Tim, modeled by Sawyer. The pencil is sharp and all of the colors
are neon. The pencil expresses its euphoria by drawing a smile.
