The letter apologizes profusely for any inconvenience caused by the writer's dogs barking in their absence. It explains that the dogs get protective and alert when they notice suspicious activity outside, such as delivery people or neighbors, and sometimes howl or bark to inform their owners, though this does not usually happen regularly. The writer tries their best not to leave the dogs unattended but unavoidable situations have occasionally led to disturbances for neighbors and requests understanding.

I begin by offering my profuse and unconditional apology.
It has been brought to our attention that our dogs, much like spirited children, in the absence of adult supervision, have been getting into mischief which has caused undue inconvenience to you. We, including the dogs, strive to live inconspicuously and in peace and quiet. And it is in this regard that I humbly request your kind understanding and cooperation. The dogs are well trained and well behaved. However, given their innate nature and instinct, they get alert and protective when they notice activity outside which they deem to be suspicious [such as delivery guys, the housekeeping staff, people inducing the child to eat its food while diverting its attention by pointing at the dogs, the apartment behind our flat where strays come to sleep, the constant movement of two wheelers being parked and moved loudly]. While our dogs generally ignore most of these activities, sometimes, especially in our absence, they howl and bark as dogs do to inform us. You may have well noted that this does not occur on a regular basis. On the rare occasions that this transpires, takes place when sudden work arises which needs to be attended to without giving us enough time to plan, prepare and inform our dogs about the same. We, to our best efforts try and see that our dogs, much like young children, are not left unattended for any period of time. Nevertheless, there do arise some unavoidable situations leading to your inconvenience. And for that I once again offer my profuse and unconditional apology and humbly seek your understanding in this regard. Regards,
