Definitions:
1. Tax- money citizens and others pay to the government. Some of that money
pays for libraries.
2. Legislative branch Creates the Laws. Congress is part of this branch.
3. Executive branch The branch that enforces the laws. Led by the president.
4. Judicial branch This branch decides what laws mean (interprets the law).
The Supreme Court is part of this branch.
5. Capitol the building where elected leaders meet to make the laws
6. Governor the elected leader of Tennessees second branch. The governors
main job is to carry out the state laws.
7. Tax- a fee citizens and others pay to the government
Concepts (all answers to these questions must be in complete sentences):
Explain the difference between the three branches of government.

In at least one paragraph, explain what it means to be a good citizen.

Use a venn diagram to compare and contrast the governments of Canada, Mexico,
and the US (use information passage to help). How are the governments alike? Be
able to explain how these governments are alike and different in 5 paragraphs.
