May 25 is African Liberation Day (Africa Day). On this day, many
African countries celebrate the hard-fought achievement of their freedom from European colonial powers. The purpose of the day was to annually mark the liberation movements progress and to symbolize the determination of the people of Africa to free themselves from foreign domination and exploitation. Between 1958 and 1963 the nation or class struggle grew bigger in Africa and around the world. During this period, seventeen countries in Africa won their independence and 1960 was proclaimed the Year of Africa. Many activities African do to celebrate this day. Including formal gatherings with panel discussions, street marches, speeches by political and social leaders, special university lectures, rallies featuring cultural entertainment, poetry, and speakers. Therefore, Africa day is an important day for Africans and they always celebrate it every year in their own countries.
