Please read my following plot synopsis before answer the

next questionsThe main character Katherine has to start a new school since
moving house after her parents divorce. Seeing as Katherines mum
is a teacher at her school shes always had pressure to do well in
school and has worked hard to achieve good grades. She struggles
with fitting in at her new school, as the rest of the pupils arent very
accepting of her. Katherine is seen as this very plain and almost
vulnerable character and begins to get picked on.
Things start to change, however, as she meets Violet, a girl at her
school with a bad reputation and a rebellious attitude. This
mysterious character takes a liking to Katherine and sticks up for
her when no one else does. As a subtle friendship begins between
the two and eventually an awkward kiss scene changes it all. They
begin a secret relationship away from school not wanting anyone to
find out.
Katherine begins to change while dating Violet as she is introduced
to new things that Violet is into (alcohol, smoking, staying out late
etc.) Katherine is so caught up in her new relationship and is gaining
bad habits from it she begins to fail at school and her relationship
with her mum becomes a lot worse.
Katherine is confused on who she is, she wants to do well like her
mum says yet is so fascinated by her newfound love with Violet. As

the stress for her starts to build up the final downfall for this
character is when she is caught with Violet showing a more then
friendship bond in front of another girl in their school who threatens
to tell everyone. Violet is thrown back by this and begins to avoid
and act like theres nothing going on between them, which upsets
Katherine further as she has already struggled with accepting her
sexuality, and hiding their relationship.
The film then comes to a dramatic close as Katherine is at breaking
point in her life seeing no other way out then to escape everything
by ending her life, drowning herself.
