Fractions on a Number Line
Originally when presented with identifying certain fractions on a number line, BRTE relied
heavily on guessing the fractions based off the overall position of the fraction on the
number line. This type of thinking also did not provide BRTE with enough reasoning to
support his answer. Therefore, the instructor introduced two types of strategies that BRTE
can utilize to help identify the fractions more concretely. The strategies are presented
below:

Upon review, the two strategies were presented did assist BRTE with identifying the
fractions, but the “leapfrog method" proved to be more beneficial. Drawing the boxes
to represent the different parts in the number line proved to be challenging for BRTE,
especially when the number line was broken into more parts. When uilizing the
“leapfrog method” BRTE made minimal errors.
