BRTE Anecdotal Notes Date: 12/22/2015 Subject/Topic(s): Math/Fractions Fractions on a Number Line Originally when presented with identifying certain fractions on a number line, BRTE relied heavily on guessing the fractions based off the overall position of the fraction on the number line. This type of thinking also did not provide BRTE with enough reasoning to support his answer. Therefore, the instructor introduced two types of strategies that BRTE can utilize to help identify the fractions more concretely. The strategies are presented below: - Feachitowe TREE Mane Line 7 7 r : eet ees pith Tot Re mt Ses inifial Assessment | Anchor Chori/Visual Post Assessment Upon review, the two strategies were presented did assist BRTE with identifying the fractions, but the “leapfrog method" proved to be more beneficial. Drawing the boxes to represent the different parts in the number line proved to be challenging for BRTE, especially when the number line was broken into more parts. When uilizing the “leapfrog method” BRTE made minimal errors.
