Clinical features
SYMPTOMS
Asymptomatic in many cases
PAIN, PHOTOPHOBIA, REDNESS - ABSENT
Floaters - insidious onset
Black spots which move with the movement of
the eye and become more apparent when viewed
against a clear background
o Due to exudates of WBC in the vitreous cavity
Blurring of vision

SIGNS

Anterior segment signs


Low grade flare and cells
Few KPs ( keratic precipitates) spill
over anterior uveitis
Complicated cataract later stages

Posterior segment signs


PATHOGNOMONIC OF PARS PLANITIS
Vitreous cells
Anterior vitreous condensation
Snowball or cotton ball opacities or Ants eggs
snowball like exudates near the ora serrata
Snow banking HALLMARK yellowish white
exudates (posterior hypopyon) & collagen
bands over pars plana
Rarely severe vitreous opacification obscuring
retina and presenting as leucocoria

Complications

Complicated cataract (42%)


Cystoid macular edema (28%)
Band keratopathy
2 glaucoma
Vitreous hemorrhage
Tractional retinal detachment
