This is the story of the mosquito, and how

everything is all his fault. A lot of repition is
used. The misquito upsets the iguana,
who then puts two sticks in his ears. When
the snake says hello to the iguana, he is
ignored then hides in a rabbit's hole. Then
the rabbit runs veery quickly, and as things
escalate, from a bird to a lion to a monkey,
a baby owl dies. Then there was no sun
for longer than a night. Then every animal
backtracks the story and it leads tot the
culprit: The mosquito. Who is then
squashed when he hums in a numan's
ear.

Math: On a powerpoint. have individual

slides that each have a picture of all the
animals in this book. Including: Mosquito,
Iguana, Python, Rabbit, Crow, Monkey,
Owl, and Lion. Have them do times

mosquito's legs (6) and the rabbits legs
(4) then subtract the number of claws an
owl has.

certain words like: Camera, Film, Ocean,

This Pueblo Indian tale is about an boy,

who is ridiculed for not having a father, he
asks many men for information about his
father. Then he comes to the Arrow Maker,
who is a wise man. The arrow maker, who
transforms him into an arrow and shoots
him to the Sun Lord. The boy has to go
through the Kiva of Lions, Serpents, Bees
and Lightning to prove that he is the son
of the Sun Lord. He does these tasks and
then is accepted by his father, who sends
him back to Earth. And he brings the Spirit
of the Sun to man.

History/Art: Give background information

about the Pueblo people, about their
beliefs and culture. For example: The
Pueble people had spirits that once lived
among them. Sine the pueble poeple did
not pay enough attention to them. So
they went high into the skies. And they
controlled the rain and the sun. Read the
book, and then have them identify the
ancestor spirit in the book. Have them
retell the story back to you in the correct
order. Art: Have them make bright colored
masks made out of construction paper.

was in one place, he missed the other. He
wanted to gog back to California before he
died, but died in Japan.

This is a story from my own childhood,

and one that I loved dearly. This paticular
magical story starts with a donkey named
Sylvester who has two loving parents and
a wonderful life. He has a collection of
pebbles. One day he ventures off and
finds a beautiful, red, shiny pebble. He
changes the weather. He then realizes the
pebble has magic and wishes a wart
away. As he is heading home, a lion is
ready to pounce. Sylvester quickly wishes
himself a rock, and cannot wish himself
back. His parents fret and worry, and then
come to the conclusion something horrible
happened. The seasons go by, and
Sylvester's parents go out picnicking, and
set up their table cloth right on Slyvester
the rock. They find the pebble next to him,
and comment on how he would have like
it. Then they place it on the table, thus
giving Sylvester the power to wish himself
back. His parents were over joyed and
Sylvester realizes he doesn't need the
pebble to be happy.

Lit: Have the students create their own

story, about how they found their magic
pebble. Prompting questions: Where did
you find it? Describe the pebble. What did
you wish for, and did any of your wishes
go terribly wrong like Sylvester's?

Science/Lit: Talk about the lifecycle of the

frog. After giving background information
have them create the life cycle of the frog
on a paper plate. Have them draw
pictures that help communicate what the
frog is undergoing at this point. Lit:

Lit/Art: Have the kids draw a picture of

draw themselves playing in the snow.
This is a cute story about Peter, and his
adventures when a very snowy day comes Have them explain what is going on in the
pictures. Next have them name the Title,

of the kids blue playdough. Give them

kids make blueberries out of the
playdough. "But then, sal ate three. How

This is book based on a true story. Its

about a slave named Henry who became
free by sending himself in the mail to the
North. He was married and had a wife and
kids, and they were separated when they
were sold in the slave trade. Henry
decides to free himself, and takes a 27
hour journey to freedom, in a box.
