NOTE
A maximum of 32 Ater connection paths can be configured between the GOIUT and the GEIUT.
The Ater interface E1 that is configured with the semipermanent connection should not be configured
with the Ater connection path.
Prerequisite
l
The two subracks between which the Ater connection path is to be established are
configured.
The GEIUT/GOIUT in the two subracks between which the Ater connection path is to be
established is configured.
Preparation
NOTE
This parts describes how to configure the Ater connection path between the GMPS and the GTCS as well
as between the GEPS and the GTCS.

Mandatory/ Optional. When the GTCS is configured on the MSC side, you have to add an
Optional
Ater OML between the GMPS and the main GTCS.
NOTE
An active and a standby Ater OMLs are usually configured. The timeslot masks of the two links must
be the same.
The timeslot mask of an Ater OML must contain TS1 and at least four successive timeslots.
Prerequisite
6-6
The Ater connection path between the GMPS and the main GTCS is configured.

NOTE
When the total number of the GMPS and GEPS is not greater than two, TS1 and 16 successive timeslots
must be configured.
When the total number of the GMPS and GEPS exceeds two, 31 timeslots from TS1 to TS31 must be

Mandatory/ Optional. When the GTCS is configured on the MSC side, the Ater signaling link
Optional
must be configured.
NOTE
The rate of an Ater signaling link can be 64 kbit/s or 2 Mbit/s, but only one rate type can be selected.
Each GEIUT/GOIUT in the GTCS can be configured with up to sixteen 64 kbit/s Ater signaling links.
Each GEIUT/GOIUT in the GTCS can be configured with up to eight 2 Mbit/s Ater signaling links.
The maximum bandwidth is 4 Mbit/s.
The rate of the Ater signaling link on the Ater interface must be the same as that of the SS7 signaling
link on the A interface.
A total number of eight 2 Mbit/s signaling links and 2 Mbit/s SS7 signaling links can be configured
for the GMPS or GEPS where the Ater connection path is located.
