Living or Working at Sea?

You'll Need Yacht Crew Insurance

Did you know that while working or living at sea, you will need a special type of health insurance? It's
true - if you are frequently at sea, you will definitely want to invest in yacht crew insurance.

This insurance offers greater freedom in provider selection and eliminates the geographic restrictions
that many other types of insurance come with. These features of yacht crew insurance increase your
likelihood of getting the coverage you need wherever you happen to be.

Your travel itinerary will dictate what sort of yacht crew insurance you need. If the U.S. and/or Canada
are on your agenda, you can get coverage that applies to those countries and the rest of the world too.
But if you are not visiting those countries or their waters, you can opt for coverage of the rest of the
world only.

The financial details of marine crew health insurance include (for most policies) total coverage caps of
up to $5,000,000 lifetime and a range of deductible amounts. You can choose the amount that fits your
budget and personal needs, ranging from $250 to $5,000.

Coinsurance will go into effect on eligible U.S. and Canada claims for the first $5,000 in eligible claims
after the deductible has been met. After that, 100% of allowable claims will be covered, up to the plan's
maximum coverage amount. There is no coinsurance on eligible non-U.S. ad Canada claims after the
deductible has been reached.

Your coverage does not need to stop with healthcare either. You can add dental insurance benefits to
your marine crew insurance package. You will have three options to choose from, each with a $100
deductible and different total coverage limits.

To make your yacht crew insurance coverage even more comprehensive, you can also add term life
insurance in total coverage levels ranging from $5,000 to $100,000. These maximums will be determined
by the plan you select as well as your age. You can choose term life insurance for each member of your
family, and each can have their own type of coverage.

Health risks at sea are a very real problem, and many privately-issued plans will not offer your coverage
on incidents occurring at sea. You will need marine crew health insurance to receive the full range of
benefits you expect, including optional dental and term life policies.
